Veneer candidates must have healthy teeth, as problems with decay or gum disease can interfere with this treatment. If your teeth are healthy, and we feel you’re a good candidate for veneers, we’ll schedule an appointment to prepare your teeth for treatment.
The second stage is preparing your teeth for treatment. This is done by removing a thin enamel layer to make room for the veneers. We’ll then take impressions of your teeth and send them to a lab where veneers are fabricated. The lab will custom-design your veneers and send them to our office for application. This process may take two weeks.
Before & After Results
Stage three of your procedure is bonding the veneers to your teeth. After inspecting the veneers for color and fitting, we’ll clean, polish, and etch your teeth to prepare them for veneer placement. Then, we’ll cement the veneers to your teeth to complete your treatment.
Caring for Porcelain Veneers
You care for your veneers as you care for your teeth, i.e., daily brushing, flossing, and seeing your dentist regularly for routine cleanings. You should also avoid chewing on ice, eating hard foods, and using your teeth like tools, as these habits can damage your veneers prematurely. When properly cared for, porcelain veneers can last 10 or more years.
