What Is a Smile Makeover?
Smile makeover is a multi-step treatment that consists of one or more cosmetic dental procedures. It is usually performed in two or more dental appointments. It can address any of the following:
- Minor chips or cracks
- Small gaps or spaces between teeth
- Mild crookedness or misalignment issues
- Yellow or dull teeth
- Stains or discoloration
- Eroded tooth enamel
- Misshapen teeth
- Irregularly sized teeth
- Excessive gum tissue (“gummy” smile)
What Will My Smile Makeover Include?
No two smile makeovers are alike. Dr. Sutton will work with you to design a plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. Your smile makeover will include two or more of the following:
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are slipped over the front surface of teeth. They can be used to conceal an array of cosmetic imperfections, including chips, cracks, gaps between teeth, misshapen or unevenly sized teeth, and eroded enamel. They can also be used to hide stains or discoloration when these imperfections do not respond to teeth whitening or bleaching products.
Cosmetic bonding involves applying a composite resin material to the teeth to improve their shape, size, color and overall appearance. Cosmetic bonding, or dental bonding, is a simple and cost-effective alternative to porcelain veneers, except that the composite resin material typically does not last as long as veneers.
Invisalign is a modern teeth-straightening system that uses a series of clear and discreet custom-made aligners that gradually shift teeth to a more aligned position. Treatment with Invisalign typically lasts up to a year.
Another cosmetic orthodontic option is Six Months Smiles, which uses nearly invisible braces and a low-force technique to gently move the anterior (front) teeth. Treatment is shorter and more comfortable than treatment with traditional metal braces. Orthodontics with Invisalign and Six Month Smiles is a great option for individuals with minor spacing and misalignment issues.
In-office teeth whitening supervised by a trained member of Dr. Sutton’s staff lightens teeth several shades for an instantly lighter and more radiant smile. Take-home whitening trays are also available for you to use at home or on the go.
Using a soft tissue laser, the procedure reduces excessive gum tissue (“gummy smile”) or reshapes it to improve the teeth-to-gum ratio for a more harmonious smile.
